CAMPUS ACTIVATION & ARTIST PRODUCTION

Miguel and Wyclef Jean at Howard, in Under a Week

The Brief & Scale

Produced Sony Music's campus activations across the DC market from a base at Howard University, turning album releases into live moments on a campus that sets tastes well beyond its own gates.

Production Scope

Produced an acoustic pop-up and meet-and-greet in Howard's student center for Miguel's War & Leisure, then an outdoor quad stage for Wyclef Jean: staging, AV, university permits, artist team coordination and run of show on both.

The Operational Challenge

Under five days from confirmation to doors, on a campus where every event needs facilities clearance, and with no touring infrastructure behind either show. Turnout had to come from word of mouth and social seeding on the same timeline.

PRODUCTION FRAMEWORK

Two Shows, Five Days Each

Pop-Up: Miguel, War & Leisure

Produced an acoustic pop-up and meet-and-greet in Howard's student center, from venue clearance through run of show.

Quad Stage: Wyclef Jean

Built an outdoor performance on Howard's central quad: staging, AV, permits and artist team coordination, with no release anchor behind the show.

Campus Clearances

Negotiated directly with Howard administration and facility managers to clear venues, manage safety protocols and lock technical crews inside five-day windows.

Turnout on No Budget

Drove 200+ turnout per activation through word of mouth and targeted social seeding on campus, on the same five-day timeline as the production itself.

WHAT IT PRODUCED

Two Rooms Filled on Word of Mouth

  • 200+ in the room, twice. Both activations drew 200+ students with under five days from confirmation to doors and no paid promotion behind either.
  • Miguel led to Wyclef. Delivering the War & Leisure pop-up led Sony executives to hand over the Wyclef Jean performance and continuing regional activations.
  • A campus relationship that compounded. Cleared every venue through direct negotiation with Howard administration and facilities, which made the second show faster to stage than the first.
