Arts Across America - Esperanza Spalding Activation

As part of the Kennedy Center’s Arts Across America initiative, I produced a live performance and community event at the Anacostia Arts Center featuring Grammy Award–winning artist Esperanza Spalding. The goal was to bring nationally recognized talent into hyperlocal spaces, bridging cultural capital and community connection in Washington, DC’s Anacostia neighborhood.

I led production across all aspects of the event, from talent coordination and local partnerships to run-of-show, space design, and on-site logistics. The activation included a meet-and-greet and intimate performance by Spalding, alongside appearances from other local artists, transforming the arts center into a site of shared joy and creative exchange.

My role was to ensure the event felt both accessible and elevated, honoring the community it served while meeting the artistic and logistical standards of a national institution. It was a moment that fused intention with impact, and a clear example of how cultural programming can be rooted, resonant, and beautifully executed.
