American University – Cultural Strategy & Festival Director

At American University, I led the school’s largest arts and entertainment board—a student-run team entrusted with a six-figure budget and total creative control. I oversaw dozens of events each year, from campus-wide concerts to cultural showcases, and built two signature programs: AMFest, a multi-day festival with live music, an arts market, and a women-in-entertainment panel series; and SubSession, a stripped-down music and conversation series inspired by MTV Unplugged.

I managed a team of 15–20 across marketing, hospitality, finance, and production. Together, we scaled AMFest into the school’s largest venue, launched its first panel series, built a merch line that fully sold out, and delivered events that drew audiences from across DC. I also introduced a dedicated content team and brought in external partnerships with Sony Music, Trillectro, and local vendors.

I worked directly with major talent agencies, including CAA and WME, to book artists. I negotiated contracts with artist teams and agents without a middle booking agency, a move that streamlined production and elevated our artist relationships. I also liaised with electricians, security teams, and external production crews to stage safe, high-impact shows that often drew thousands.

My curation foregrounded local culture and community reinvestment, spotlighting DMV-based artists and businesses. I also brought on external funders and alumni sponsors to grow our financial base. This work not only redefined student programming on campus, it shaped a creative ecosystem that reflected the city we were in, not just the school we attended.
